Because marriage mentoring is one of the most effective influences in building strong marriages, we periodically train couples to be marriage mentors. We will provide a short effective course to train couples who have been married eight years or more, are still working to improve their marriages, and have a heart to see young couples build strong marriages. The course takes place during the 11 a.m. LIFE class hour on March 7, 14, 21 and 28 in room 442.

Spend the weekend of June 11-13, 2010 with your spouse on a relaxing retreat at the beach. Join Johnny and Beth Evans for insightful teaching and Joel and Sonia Leath for worship through music. This weekend will give couples a chance to escape the bustle of life and enjoy fellowship with others, a dessert social and more.

Cost is $250 per couple for the weekend and includes five meals, lodging and retreat materials.

The next meeting for The Journey will be March 24, 2010.

On the fourth Wednesday of each month (except November and December), married couples meet in the amphitheater for The Journey from 6:30-8 p.m. Children may attend SonStation while their parents attend The Journey. Register for SonStation by the Monday before the meeting.

The men of Providence will be returning to The Cove for their annual retreat March 19-21, 2010. Our special guest this year will be Ken Smith. Ken currently serves as Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church in Wauchula, Florida. Lenny LeBlanc will be returning to lead us in worship and praise time. Lenny is currently the worship leader at Faith Church in Florence, Alabama.

Cost is $295 for the weekend (with the option of a $100 deposit). All men 18 years of age and older are welcome.

How would you like to pedal on miles of effortless trail along the New River in Virginia? Join us for our Men's Bike Trip - mountain-biking Providence-style. The New River Trail State Park offers a virtually flat, hard-packed trail for men to practice "freewheelin' friendship." All men high school age and older are welcome (high schoolers must be accompanied by their dads) for a weekend of fellowship, exercise and spiritual encouragement as we tackle the trail near Galax, Virginia.

The cost is $100 for the Saturday-Sunday option and $145 for the Friday-Sunday option. Cost includes: hotel accommodations with continental breakfast, Saturday lunch and dinner, Sunday lunch and a t-shirt. There is an estimated $20 in additional expenses that you'll need to cover on the trip (meals during travel, etc.). Register by April 8.

Travel with us May 10-13 to the Pennsylvania Dutch Country for a four-day/three-night getaway.  We’ll enjoy the new production of Joseph and a show at the Living Waters Theatre.  In addition, we’ll experience Amish life on a working homestead, and take a guided tour of Lancaster.  Cost is $379 and includes transportation, lodging (double occupancy), six meals and all admission fees.  Reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Spaces are reserved when the full payment or a $75 deposit has been received.  Space is limited; make your reservation early.  Final payment is due March 10. 

Through this film learning experience, timeless illustrations will leap off the pages of Scripture and into modern lives to teach how to faithfully live with trust in God, the ultimate Provider. Join us for a family-friendly evening to watch two of the films and hear live teaching by Crown's CEO and film producer, Chuck Bentley. The event takes place Thursday, March 18, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Providence.

Many topics that were once taboo in our society are now being talked about openly on news stations, in work places and in churches. The reality is that we live in a fallen world and with this reality comes the deviance of mankind leading to all kinds of evil. Among the most destructive types of evil include sexual offenses. Our  society, including our churches, have be faced with the reality of sexual offenders and the lasting scars that stay with the victims, their families and everyone who is a part of their lives.

Providence Baptist Church hosted a seminar to help parents, school counselors, child care workers, ministry workers and anyone who works with children learn how to focus on overcoming false information regarding sexual offenders and accurately identifying those who put children at risk. Joy Prom 2010 will take place on April 30. Plan to spend the evening with us in celebration of adults in our community who have special needs. Volunteers for many areas are needed. Volunteers can register online. Currently, we need for a coordinator for the dining room and creative minds to assist on the decorations committee leadership team.
