3.01.2006 - Making Their Dollars Grow
Our children have helped lead the way in sacrificial giving. While the congregation was praying in October about what God would have them give through the recent capital campaign, the children were also praying about how the Lord might use them to further His kingdom. Each child studied the parable of the talents in Matthew 25. They were then each given a dollar and challenged to see how they could make their dollar multiply. Below are a few of the ideas they came up with to serve the Lord.

Cross-stitching Christmas ornaments and selling them.
Gabriela Phillips, fourth grade

Selling my clothes, not taking part of my allowance and putting it into "Join in the Journey," doing extra chores like sweeping the driveway, porch, floors and dusting.
Kinsey McDaniel, fourth grade

Selling clothes that don't fit anymore, giving 50 cents from my $2 allowance each week.
Kayla McDaniel, fourth grade

I am going to buy trash bags and do yard work.
Bethann Hilla, fourth grade

We are going to have a yard sale.
Zane Weekman, fourth grade

I did a job for my mom by sweeping the driveway.
Hannah, fourth grade

Making and selling cookies.
Marissa Roberts, second grade (Grew $7)

Set up a lemonade stand to raise money.
Caleb and Joshua Hutchins, (Grew $15)

I talked with my family, and my dad thought my brother and I could sell cupcakes (because we have soccer every Saturday). The first time business went well. A grandma came and bought all of the rest (she had a church service that afternoon). But the next Saturday I had baked twice the amount and sold only two. I was so bummed I cried really hard, so we decided no more selling. So I'm turning in my money to Christ.
Alex Hendrix, fourth grade, grew $18

11.20.2005 - $7 million pledged so far!
The Lord has done great things! On November 20, it was announced that He has provided approximately $7 million through the sacrificial commitments of those here at Providence. We praise the Lord for His continuing goodness to us. Don't forget to thank Him in your personal prayer time for what He has done!
