Amazing Grace: William Wilberforce and the Heroic Campaign to End Slavery by Eric Metaxas is an engaging, detailed look at the life of William Wilberforce and the mission that shaped his life and impacted the world: the abolishment of the slave trade in Great Britain. As a Christian, Wilberforce understood the intrinsic value every human life has because we have been created by God, in His image. The fruit of such an understanding was courage in the face of great opposition, humility under the weight of a task so noble, and the glory of God through a life lived for that which is right, true, and just. In the telling of Wilberforce’s story, Metaxas inspires and challenges his readers to live with the same bravery, endurance, and faith as Wilberforce himself.
