NIV Compact Bible Commentary

The NIV Compact Bible Commentary by Dr. John Sailhamer is an invaluable resource in understanding the big picture of the Bible and its impact on individual passages. The best way to describe the purpose of the commentary, according to Dr. Sailhamer, is that it was written "to aid you in reading the Bible on your own." Too often, as we read the Bible, individual passages look like pieces of a puzzle that we are seeking to assemble without the aid of the picture on the box. This commentary, in a sense, helps to reveal the full picture of God’s plan as revealed in His word. In helping the reader to see the full picture, the pieces then take on greater meaning and one is able to see how individual passages relate to the whole. It’s very readable and recommended for all Christians.
