Service Opportunities
Downtown Raleigh Outreach
Downtown Raleigh Outreach Providence has the opportunity to join with Church in the Woods ministry to help serve and feed those who are homeless and needy in the downtown Raleigh area every second Saturday of the month at 11:30am. We will be meeting at Moore Square, just across the street from the Salvation Army. Our church will be providing a hot meal for 100-200 people and sharing the Gospel. We need volunteers to provide, transport and serve food.Contact: Kim Tant / 919.757.4670
Community HOPE – Raleigh Gardens
Our vision: Giving Hope. Serving Communities. Building Futures.
At Community HOPE our desire is to help students see the hope for their future, rooted in the principles found in Jeremiah 29:11. Through literacy development and building caring relationships, we match volunteer mentors with at-risk students. Each year students participating in Community HOPE make phenomenal leaps in literacy skills, far above current norms. Even more, these children develop confidence and a vision for positive futures. Community HOPE students meet on Mondays and Wednesdays at 4:30 and 5:30 for one hour mentoring sessions with their mentors. If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please contact: Sarah Vevurka / 919.815.3066
Other Raleigh Gardens Opportunities
In our quest to know Jesus, we want to make Him known in the community by forming friendships and discipleship opportunities. Providence has the amazing opportunity to do that right in our back yard. Raleigh Gardens is a complex located behind the church where Providence is given the opportunity to serve the residents throughout the year.
Youth Night is a weekly ministry for middle to high school students. Raleigh Garden’s residents enjoy basketball and Bible study.
Powered for Life is a Bible study on work. Teach young men and women to network, interview and write resumes. This programs runs for 8 weeks twice a year.
Gifts of Grace is a seasonal outreach that encourages those who are in need and blesses those who are reaching out. Our members provide toys for a Christmas store and our guests enjoy shopping for their own children for 10% of the price. It is a time for Providence members to engage our local community.

ESL (English as a Second Language) Ministry
If you desire to make an impact in the lives of internationals in our community, consider volunteering with Providence's ESL ministry. The next session of ESL classes will run Thursdays from 7–9pm from August 25-November 17. We are especially in need of bible study teachers for the children of our ESL students (training will be provided). However, volunteers can also be involved in prayer ministry, social activities and ESL student recruitment.Contact: Shannon Kraus /
Garden Ministry
The Garden Ministry seeks to collect vegetables, fruits and herbs from Providence family gardeners and farmers and to distribute to those who need to supplement their weekly groceries. 1 Timothy 6:18 says, "Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.” Most gardeners produce more than their families can consume, so in these challenging economic times, this is an opportunity for you to share your abundance with those in need. This ministry runs annually from July to August.
