MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers)
MOPS ministry needs you! We need a creative person to lead our activity sessions. Is
God calling you to help us? Mothers of Preschoolers meets the first and third
Wednesday night of each month to learn more about being moms, to support each
other and to fellowship with other moms. You do not have to be a preschool mother
to serve in this way. For more information, contact Wendy Warlick (326-3000, ext. 226).
Summer Book Club
It’s not too late to pick up a reading log for the Summer Book Club. As you complete
a reading log, turn it in so that stickers can be added to it. Join us August 15 for the
pizza party to celebrate all the books that have been read this summer. RSVP to
Nancy Corson (326-3000, ext. 232). Many new books, CDs and DVDs have been
added to the library this month, so visit the library (room 233) Sundays from 9-9:30 a.m.,
10:30-11:15 a.m. and 7-7:30 p.m.

ESL (English as a Second Language) Ministry
If you desire to make an impact in the lives of internationals in our community,
consider volunteering with Providence’s ESL ministry. The next session of ESL classes
will begin in August and run every Thursday from 7-9 p.m. through November.
We are especially in need of volunteers for teaching ESL (training will be provided) and
childcare workers. However, volunteers can also be involved in the prayer ministry,
social activities and ESL student recruitment. Please note: No knowledge of a foreign
language is required to volunteer. For more information, contact Lucy Stack
(961-3665).
Downtown Feeding Outreach
Join us for a time of service and outreach in downtown Raleigh on Saturday, July 12.
We will be meeting at the church to prepare a meal for the hungry before traveling to
Moore Square to meet with and serve others in our community. We will be leaving the
church at 11:30 a.m. For more information, contact Megan Bowles (649-0011).

Missions Ministry
Pray for Our Missionaries
If you’ve been looking for a way to make an impact in the world for Christ, pick up
one of our Missions Prayer Calendars from the missions information board in the
lobby. We update this publication monthly with prayer requests directly from our
missionaries, both locally and around the world. It’s a simple way you can support
our missionaries and help empower the work they are doing for Christ. You can also
download the calendar from the website.

Shepherding Ministry
Facing Tough Times?
Many people have times in their lives when they are going through a particularly
difficult situation and need a loving friend who will listen, pray and encourage.
Providence’s Stephen Ministry provides support and encouragement for times like
those. Through this ministry, trained caregivers (called Stephen ministers) provide
one-on-one Christian care to the bereaved, hospitalized, terminally ill, separated,
divorced, unemployed, relocated and others facing a crisis or life challenge. To get in
touch with a Stephen minister, call Ricky Mill or Judy Dengler (326-3000).
Empty Arms—A Ministry for Miscarriage or Stillbirth
Many families at Providence have experienced the loss of a child through miscarriage
or stillbirth. Providence’s Empty Arms gathers people who have been through similar
losses to come alongside those who are grieving (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). If you are in
need of this ministry or know someone at Providence who does, e-mail Kelly or call the Empty Arms hotline (326-3010, ext. 505) and leave
a message.
Singles Ministry
The Gathering
The next Gathering Bible study will be this Wednesday, July 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the
Delta Lake Center. Join us for a time of worship through music and teaching. For more
information on any singles event, contact Jay Veverka (326-3000).
Oasis 414
Mark your calendars for this special summer event on July 26. We’ll spend a relaxing
day at Falls Lake from noon-6 p.m. More details are available on our website or at any
singles event.

No SBS June 30
Parents and students, there will be no summer Bible studies on June 30. We will resume
Monday, July 7. We look forward to having you there!
July Refuge
Parents and students are invited to attend Refuge on July 9 in the Delta Lake Center. This
will be our Impact Report Back, so you do not want to miss it!
Women's Ministry
Summer Women’s Bible Study
It’s not too late to register! We’ll gather every Monday between July 7-August 18
from 7-8:30 p.m. and go through Beyond the Masquerade by Dr. Julianna Slattery,
who was our retreat speaker last fall. All women, regardless of your season of life, are
invited to journey with us into the biblical truths underlying our need to be transparent
before God and each other. Special prayer emphasis will highlight our time together.
Register online. Cost is $20 if you need the book and $5 if you have it. For more
information, contact Leeanne Burda (395-4057).

Other News
Family Picnic and Lake Baptism
The entire church family is invited to an exciting and memorable picnic and baptism
the afternoon of July 20 at Sandling Beach at Falls Lake. We encourage you to bring
a picnic and enjoy the day with your family. Shelters are available all day. Prayer and
praise begin at 5 p.m., and the baptism will begin at 6 p.m. Due to limited space in
the shelters for the picnic, we recommend that everyone bring a blanket or lawn
chairs. Maps and car passes are available at the welcome center.
Fourth of July Party
International scholars are invited to attend a cookout July 4 as we celebrate the
birthday of the United States. For more details, e-mail Kevin Wood or check our website, www.pray.org/college.
Book Recycling Day
Everyone is invited to participate in Book Recycling Day. Now through September 14,
bring your like-new Christian books (including fiction, biographies, devotionals and
books for children), videos, DVDs and CDs to the recycling bins outside the church
library located in room 233. On September 21, come to Prisms between 7:30 a.m.
and 1 p.m. and select items to keep (while supplies last) from the donations. Items
that remain after September 21 will be donated to local ministries. Call Nancy Corson
(326-3000, ext. 232).

Prayer
Church
- Lift up the cookout for international students July 4.
- Pray for Providence’s Summer Celebration and ice cream social.
- Pray that the Word of God will take root and grow in the hearts of the
children who attended Super Summer Adventure.
- Pray that Christians will seek God first each day, privately, before getting
physically involved in His work for the day.
- Pray that genuine repentance would characterize the response of God’s
people to sin and that the lordship of Jesus would rule our daily living.
- Ask God to help each of us daily to bear fruit for Him in the work we do and
to increase in the knowledge of Him.
Nation and World
- Intercede for the states that have been devastated by flooding (Illinois, Iowa,
Missouri, Wisconsin, Michigan and Indiana) and for the states battling fires
(California, New Mexico and North Carolina).
- Pray for those Americans who have been impacted financially by these
natural disasters.
- Lift up the relief workers in the flooded and burned areas, and pray for the
success of the plans of the Domestic Policy team.
- Ask the Lord to bless the United States with calm weather for the rest of the
summer.
- Lift up American citizens as they consider the candidates running for office
at every level. Ask God to bless us with a spirit of wisdom and discernment.
- Intercede for the protection of our troops as they work to defeat tyranny and
evil around the world.
