Prayer Ministry
Prayer Teams
Many Providence ministry areas have prayer teams in place that actively undergird their service area. If you have a heart for a specific ministry and a burden to pray for that ministry, please review the information below to determine if a prayer team already exists, then contact the leader to become involved. If your area of interest does not have a prayer team yet, ask the Lord if he is calling you to help form and lead one. The Providence in Prayer ministry will assist you through the process, providing training and tools. Contact the Prayer Ministry Office (919-326-3000).
College Prayer and Encouragement
In addition to intense academics, today's college students face pressures from a morally decaying society. Please call if you are willing to adopt a college freshman to encourage and pray for on a consistent basis throughout the year. Contact Shirley Doherty (326-3000, ext. 256). The college ministry prayer team meets each Sunday at 8:45 a.m. for 30 minutes in room 401. Grandmothers at Prayer
Christian grandmothers join together monthly, responding to God's call to stand in the gap (Ezekiel 22:30). Their petitions for their grandchildren build walls of righteousness and protection and establish beacons of faith in difficult situations. If you are a grandmother, please plan to join with other "GAP" warriors the second Sunday of each month at 9:30 a.m. in room 401. Contact Jackie Brown (919-851-7141).
Hospital Prayer Team
Members of this team receive by e-mail a list of people associated with Providence who are hospitalized. Those who would rather receive this information by phone are given the number to a voicemail box, which they check daily. The team also prays for those members who are shut-in. LIFE Class Inreach Prayer Team
The LIFE class inreach ministry provides the primary channel through which Providence keeps in touch with and ministers to the needs of the LIFE class members. This prayer team intercedes for the many functions involved in inreach ministry. Communication of prayer requests is by phone or e-mail. To be a part of this prayer team, contact Mike Williams.
Missions Prayer Support
Many opportunities to pray privately for missions are available, including the missions focus sections in the bulletin and monthly magazine and prayer for short-term missions. Shepherding Ministries Prayer Team
This prayer focus team prays for the continual growth of a caring spirit within Providence. They intercede also for the enhancement of Shepherding Ministries in the area of support groups, lay biblical counseling/discipleship, benevolence, deacon and marriage ministries. This team meets the first Tuesday of each month in room 403 at 11:45 a.m. from September to May. For more information, contact Judy Gilson.
Student Ministries Prayer Team
This team consistently lifts up our students, special events and student workers in prayer. This ministry team primarily consists of parents of youth and student workers. For the middle school prayer team, contact Brenda Wilcox (919-676-9291) and for the high school prayer team, contact Debbie Gainor (919-848-0134).
The Gathering
This team meets the first, third and fifth Wednesdays of the month from 7-7:30 p.m. in a room off of the amphitheater. They pray for each aspect of the singles' Bible study, The Gathering, which meets on the same Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. For more information, contact Bev Benfield.
Unreached People Groups
Pursue God's heart for the nations! Join men and women from Providence who come together every Sunday morning to pray for the 10,000 unreached people groups and the persecuted church. This group meets weekly from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. in the Prayer Suite. For more information, contact Ruth Challener (919-848-1301).
