Building Together Childcare Ministry

Volunteer Procedures

Parent Check-in

  1. Parents will need to sign in their children each night they attend the program.
  2. Parents will be asked to complete a form the first time their child attends the program.
  3. After the parent completes the form, the person helping to check in the children will inform the point of contact for that age group that another child is joining their group.

Parent Check-out

  1. Parents are responsible for picking up their child.
  2. If the group is outside for an activity, the volunteer will need to walk back with the parent and child to sign the child out for the evening.
  3. If a parent needs to leave early, and the children are outside, we ask that the parent inform us ahead of time, so we can be sure the child is inside when the parent is ready to leave. We prefer not to release the children to the parent outside. This allows us to account for all children.

Bathroom Needs
If a child needs to use the bathroom, two adults need to escort the child to the bathroom to assure accountability and liability.

Inside Activity
Since there is scheduled time to play outside, we ask that while indoors, the children not throw balls or running around. This will minimize chaos and assist with safety.

Outside Activity
An adult must escort a child to outside locations.
When crossing the street, children should be close to an adult or holding their hand.

Medical Needs

  1. If a child is injured - no matter how minor (fall, sprain, cut, scrape, etc.) - a volunteer must complete a form regarding the incident.
  2. Completed forms should be given to the point of contact for the evening.
  3. The volunteer will also need to have the person serving as point of contact inform the parent of the situation.

Miscellaneous
A volunteer should locate the parent if:

  1. A child's diaper needs changing
  2. A child needs medical attention.
  3. Any other unexpected circumstances
