On Sunday evening, February 16, the Providence church family had the sweet opportunity to witness the ordination of Jarrick Oxendine into the gospel ministry. After spending time in prayer for the next generation of students, Jarrick, and his wife Brittany, were invited on stage where Providence elders and pastors laid hands on the couple to pray for them. On the floor just below the edge of the stage, a huge mass of students and student ministry leaders crowded before the Oxendine’s to support and pray for them as well.
Jarrick, having served on staff at Providence since 2015, has felt a call to minister to students since his time in college. He became a follower of Christ as a sophomore in high school and has passionately pursued a relationship with Christ ever since. This gospel transformation soon began to fuel his desire for students to know and love the same Jesus that changed his life. Jarrick is a graduate of NC State and is now pursuing a Master of Divinity at Southeastern Biblical and Theological Seminary.
“I have seen God’s favor through serving in student ministry. I was affirmed in many ways by my wife and others I trusted who are indwelled with the Holy Spirit. I cannot ignore God’s sovereignty in my life in all past and present opportunities to know, love, and serve students.” – Jarrick Oxendine
Join us in continuing to pray for Jarrick and Brittany as they step into this role of caring for, shepherding, and loving on students both in middle school and high school.
