To be blunt, without Truth, we have nothing. No basis for morality. No peace. No wisdom to guide our decisions. No hope. No reason to be.
Without Truth, we cannot walk securely as we go throughout our days. I feel unloved, so I must be unlovable. No matter what I do, it doesn’t seem to be enough. I have no idea if this is right. This situation feels hopeless and so do I.
Thankfully, graciously, God has given us Truth in the person of Jesus Christ. And when He gave us this precious gift, He simultaneously gave us Hope and Peace and the ability to be set free from our bondage of sin. John 8:31 and 32 states, “…Jesus said…, ‘If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.’”
John 14:6 tells us that Jesus also said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Jesus is The Truth. To know Jesus is to know The Truth. The Truth will set you free. It is because, and only because, of Jesus that we SHALL BE SET FREE.
“Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved…” (Acts 16:31). Jesus freed us from our sin and its ultimate consequence (Romans 6:23). It is because of Jesus that we are able to go through this life in anticipation of the next with great joy and expectation.
The truth is, we live in a fallen world where absolutes are viewed as intolerant. The truth is, we will never be satisfied in this life apart from God. The truth is, God compassionately made a way for us to live abundantly on this earth and in eternity. The truth is, Jesus is the way.
So, abide in His Word; it’s always true (Proverbs 30:5). Always. Allow it to permeate your heart and your brain space and your choices and your home. When you run out of words to say to yourself or others, God’s Word is the right place to look 100% of the time. If you dwell in His Word, you are Christ’s disciple and you will know Him more and more fully and that Truth will set you free.
