City Serve: Alliance Medical Ministry “Gardener for the Day” (FULL)

April 20 @ 8:00 am - 12:30 pm

Did you know approximately 131,000 Wake County residents are food insecure.  To address food insecurity issues facing many patients, AMM partnered with the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle to build an on-site Community Garden.

Annually, they harvest 2,000 pounds of fresh produce.  On a half of an acre, the garden grows a wide variety of vegetables, herbs, and fruits. They focus on growing food that is culturally relevant and familiar to their patient population.

Volunteers will tend the garden and do any necessary work to assist the upkeep of this ministry garden hosted by the Alliance Medical Ministry.

With eight rows and 20 garden boxes, there’s always work to be done! Typical tasks include planting, weeding, watering, and harvesting.  No gardening experience required.  The AMM Wellness Coordinator will oversee your time and offer instructions, tasks, and tools.  However, we recommend that  you bring your own gloves and hat, and wear garden boots (closed toe shoes due to possible fire ants.)

This Project Is Full.
