September 1 – October 24

Providence, let’s use our gifts and abilities to be a light in our community!

CityServe is an opportunity for us as a church to serve local schools and ministries in the Raleigh area. Due to COVID-19, CityServe will look different this fall. Instead of hundreds of us serving on one day at multiple locations, we’re asking everyone to choose from four options to reach the city over an eight-week period.

We will be using our green t-shirts from our last CityServe. Please note, there is no rally this year.

Scholastic Academy at Providence

We are partnering with the YMCA to provide a Scholastic Academy at Providence for Wake County elementary and middle school students. Volunteers are needed to support students in their online school or Virtual Academy classes. Then, volunteers will help with activities. The program is offered Monday-Friday from 8:30-3:30 in the Providence Kids Building. You can serve 2, 3, or 5 times a week for one week or multiple weeks. Volunteers must be vetted and trained through the YMCA.

  • Sign up for Providence’s CityServe.
  • Complete registration through the YMCA for training and vetting.
  • High School and College Students with flexible schedules can volunteer. Volunteers should be 18 or older.

Teacher Outreach

Encourage and support relationship building with our local school staff! Life Groups will collect items and assemble teacher survival kits to 10+ schools in the area.

  • Sign up your Life Group.
  • Life Groups of more than 20 people will collect and assemble 35 teacher bags using the provided list.
  • Life Groups of less than 20 people will assemble 18 bags using the provided list.
  • Providence will supply a teacher bag, gift card, sticky pad, pen, and note from Providence.
  • Life Group mobilizers will drop off teacher survival bags to the school liaison to deliver.
  • Wear your green City Serve shirt during assembly! Take pictures and post them to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram @PBCRaleigh or #PBCcityserve.

Neighbor Hospitality Outreach

Using new neighbor data, make personal contact with FOUR new people that have moved in or are moving into your neighborhood. Create a new neighbor welcome package for your neighbor, and engage in conversation on how to get plugged into your neighborhood and Providence.

  • Complete a registration form including your address and subdivision name.
  • Our team will send you a list of four new neighbors in your neighborhood.
  • Create a welcome basket/bag, including your information and Providence materials (some items will be provided by Providence).
  • Utilize the B.L.E.S.S. model to engage these new neighbors on an ongoing basis.

Restaurant Blowout — FULL

Let’s love on 10 local businesses in need. Many restaurants have been hurting financially. Meet up as a Life Group, eat, then hand out gift cards to at least 20 people in line or in the drive-thru!

  • Register your group.
  • Pick your restaurant.
  • Pick a day and time for your Life Group to do a restaurant blowout.
  • Pick up gift cards from our team.
  • Meet as a Life Group, eat, fellowship, then hand out gift cards to the next 20 people you see!
  • Wear your green City Serve shirt! Take pictures and post them to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram @PBCRaleigh or #PBCcityserve.

CityServe Prayer Team

All events should be covered in prayer or we will be guilty of serving in our own strength! Life Groups can choose to pray together through Zoom or pray individually on your own.

  • Register as a class or individually.
  • Pick a time to pray between September 1 – October 24 or join Moms in Prayer International and pray on September 20 using the Bless Our Schools Sunday prayer guide. You can also see more information about Bless Our Schools Sunday on the Moms in Prayer website.
