Providence is passionate about Jesus Christ, the gospel and His church. Not only the existing church but also the future church. As a result, we believe Providence has a major role to play in raising up and training the next generation of healthy Christian men and women who will make an eternal impact in their generation and future generations. Pastors, Ministry Leaders, Church Planters and Missionaries not only need to be grounded with a foundation in spiritual disciplines and theology but also need to be exposed to the realities of ministry and missions within the context of a body of believers. In light of this, and by God’s grace, we believe Providence Church is uniquely gifted to equip and train individuals pursuing a lifetime of vocational Christian ministry.
Qualified applicants will be gifted and motivated men and women who sense a call to some form of vocational service. They will have completed an undergraduate college degree, currently studying in a post-graduate degree in biblical or theological studies (MA, M.Div or equivalent) or have recently completed a post-graduate degree in biblical or theological studies. In addition, they will come with significant ministry experience and a strong recommendation and endorsement from the church in which they are currently serving or previously served.
The residency is a 24-month program with 2 available tracks that can be customized to the needs and calling of each resident.
Through the Ministry Training Track, Residents have the potential to earn up to 24 hours of credit at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Within the Mentored Ministry Track, Residents will be given ministry assignments and responsibilities within their ministry area and also be exposed to overall church leadership.
Each resident, regardless of track, will also participant in a weekly seminar with other residents focused on understanding and developing leadership skills and various facets of ministry and operations within a church.
Each resident is expected to commit 35 hrs/week of time training and serving within the Residency. This would include the weekly leadership seminar and ministry team and staff meetings.
Each resident is expected to raise funds to support themselves while enrolled in the Residency. Training will be required and provided to create a budget and raise funds prior to the start of the Residency.
Each resident will report first to the Ministry Residency leader and then to their respective ministry level coach.
The Ministry Residency at Providence is fully support raised. Each Resident will be responsible for raising their own salaries during the 24-month program.
Providence has partnered with a credible organization called Reliant that trains, coaches, and manages everything needed to help you with the support raising process.
With the best tools and resources at your disposal, support raising will be an excellent training ground for future opportunities in ministry.
Providence will seek to provide housing for all single residents.
Residents begin in both January and July of each year. All applications must be submitted by May 1 (for January entry) and January 1 (for August entry) each year. Resident acceptance will be based on applications, interviews, recommendations, limits of the program and desired track.
In addition to ministry training and mentored ministry, Providence will invest in books, conferences, supplies, exposure to national and international mission trips and a MacBook for each resident.
