The following resources are a mixture of devotion books and some books written with short lessons on Christian doctrine (the foundational truths that we hold dear in our faith). Both can be excellent resources for leading family devotions.

The Ology by Marty Machowski
This a great book that tackles Christian doctrine and theology in short chapters, full of biblical references that give families a chance to break from the book and dig into the scripture. Each chapter is written as part of a continuous narrative that unfolds the story of the Bible.

Small Talk on Big Questions by Selah Helms & Susan Thompson Kayler
A compilation of short Bible lessons and a subsequent lesson from Christian History, built around catechism questions. Catechism is simply a method of teaching Christian doctrine through a series of questions and answers that can be learned. Each unit lesson has a set of discussion questions included.

God’s Mighty Acts in Creation by Starr Meade
A collection of 45 short devotions that follow the 6 days of creation and highlight how God’s created work points us toward His greatness. Each devotion includes discussion questions.

God’s Mighty Acts in Salvation by Starr Meade

One Year of Dinner Table Devotions by Nancy Guthrie
Short daily family devotions meant to be shared around the table in conjunction with a family meal. Each days devotion centers around a biblical theme, concept, or word that gives families a chance to step back and view life and the Bible from God’s perspective. Each day comes with discussion starters and memory verses.
