Investing in the next generation of church leaders.
The Providence Leadership Institute is intended to provide Biblical leadership training and mentoring for both pastoral and lay ministry leadership. The Institute includes 6 areas of leadership training: Ministry Residency, Ministry Internships, Advanced Christian Leadership, Church Ministry and Leadership, Biblical Counseling, and Next Generation Leadership.
In general, our culture is raising up a generation of leaders divorced of character and moral absolutes. Yet as followers of Christ, the two are inseparable. More than that, within the pages of Scripture we see that character always trumps competency. The church has a responsibility to identify and train leaders that will honor Christ, lead with great skill and influence in the church, workplace and community.
The Ministry residency is an intense 24-month training program available to both male and female college graduates pursuing a life of vocational ministry. It combines education (in partnership with several seminaries and universities), training, mentoring, and exposure to the various facets of ministry.
Ministry internships are 9-month part time or 3-month full time internships that provide both male and female seminary or college students considering full time vocational ministry an opportunity to receive training, grow spiritually and gain experience with coaching in specific ministries as they consider God’s calling on their lives.
Advanced Christian Leadership is a 20-week course that seeks to provide a biblical overview of the character, skill and emotional intelligence of Christ-like leaders. This course will include both class work and forums with Christian leaders in the Triangle.
Church Ministry and Leadership is a 20-week course that seeks to train lay leaders for effective church leadership. Topics include ecclesiology, basic Christian doctrines, missions, expository teaching, leader development, team building, and counseling.
Biblical Counseling is a 20-week course that seeks to train lay leaders in the basics of Biblical pastoral counseling. This course includes both class work and mentored counseling opportunities.
Next Generation Leadership is a 20-week small group study that prepares students for a life of Christian leadership. This course includes both class work and a mentorship with adult Christian leaders.
The Providence Ministry Residency is one element within the Providence Leadership Institute that provides ministry training and mentored ministry in an effort to fully prepare an individual for a life of vocational ministry service.
Ministry internships provide both male and female seminary or college students considering full time vocational ministry an opportunity to receive training, grow spiritually and gain experience with coaching in specific ministries as they consider God’s calling on their lives.
