We are all guilty. We think that if we can deny our sin, we can find peace, but that is a lie. How do we avoid becoming overwhelmed by guilt? How can we be washed of all our sins? How is it possible that sin can just be blotted out? It is only by the cross. Our sin is taken away because Jesus stood in our place and paid the price. Peace can be found in believing in this gospel and not our own performance; in believing it even in the moments where we fall into our sin. Like a father who has compassion for His children, so Christ draws near to us, and, because of the gospel, we can find comfort even in our guilt.
