Short Term Trip Testimonial – Nathan Hackney

“If you have the capacity to set aside a day, weekend, week, or more to the Lord, DO IT!.”

Now that I’m back in the States reflecting on this trip, I’m astounded by God’s providence. I grew more than I ever expected to. My pride in what I had worked for was shattered and replaced with the willingness for God to work through me. The peace and joy that came from focusing on others and my walk with God and not furthering myself or my education was so refreshing. Everyone I met in Botswana truly had a huge impact on my life, and I’m so thankful to have met them. The team I was on from Providence was indescribably awesome. I can’t communicate how much each and every one of them meant to me. Every conversation, laugh, burnt (or raw) steak, devotion, inside joke, prayer, encouragement, and smile contributed to memories that will last a lifetime. To anyone reading this, I want you to know that furthering the kingdom and setting aside a week to spread the gospel absolutely changed the trajectory of my life. If you have the capacity to set aside a day, weekend, week, or more to the Lord; DO IT! And if you don’t have the capacity; DO IT ANYWAY! (because God definitely has the capacity). Even if it’s just here at home, we are each commissioned and commanded by the Great Commission to create disciples. Living out that commandment will change you and the way you live your life.” (Matthew 28:19-20)
